About Core Process

Core Process Psychotherapy was developed over 30 years ago by Maura and Franklyn Sills.

The Core Process model integrates ''mindfulness' and western psychological theories.

It is interesting to see how 'mindfulenss' is now viewed as a 'leading edge' approach in modern psychological terms.

This is all the more interesting since it has been at the centre of all the major spiritual and religious traditions since ancient times, though the academic institutions and researchers promoting mindfulness generally do not acknowledge its spiritual roots.

Mindfulness is central in the practice of Core Process psychotherapy.

Basincally, Core Process Psychotherapy promotes an attitude of empathy and mindful awareness.

The intention of the core process approach is to help you become aware of your inner world - your thoughts, feelings, sensations and intention.

You are encouraged to receive anything that comes into your awareness without judgement.

Core Process Psychotherapy will bring light to the subtle responses in your day to day life which may be unconscious.

For the core process approach to be effective, you don't need understand the psychological principles on which it is based.

Attuning to your experience in this way can help to uncover the underlying causes of emotional difficulties. When you become more aware of how your difficulties arise, change happens.

The sole purpose of core process psychotherapy is to free the mind from the causes of suffering.

Training in the core process approach is available at the renowned Karuna Institute in Devon. Visit the institute's website at www.karuna-institute.co.uk
